Ministry of Partnership Development (MPD)

What is MPD?

The ministry of Jesus and some of the early apostles was supported by financial partners - many of whom are specifically named in the New Testament for their generous and faithful giving.

In a similar vein, Every Nation churches around the world are blessed to have many amazing missionaries who choose to raise their own financial support through a network of partners.

MPD accelerates mission: it enables church-planters, campus ministers, and missionaries to devote their time and energy to gospel ministry; and it enables churches to release labourers into the harvest beyond the capacity of their limited resources.

Frequently Asked Questions

MPD is a calling, chosen by the missionary, to enable them to vocationally pursue gospel ministry where available church finances would otherwise preclude them from doing so.

No - it is in addition to our tithes. Since its inception in the Old Testament, the tithe (meaning 10%) was to support the priests for their service. (Gen 14:20, Heb 1:3, Num 18:21-24). We are commanded to “bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house” (Mal 3:10), not divide it into pieces. In the New Testament the giving of believers was laid “at the apostles feet” to be distributed according to ministry needs and priorities (Acts 4:35, 47, 5:2) by qualified church leaders. However, the tithe is just a baseline for our generosity, and we believe New Testament generosity should exceed this in the giving of “offerings” over and above this - including to the support of missionaries!

No - for accountability and reporting, they are paid to a trusted third-party organisation (Stewardship), who also provide payroll support to Every Nation London - for the deduction of all applicable taxes and pension.

Yes - they are ordinary staff members with employment contracts. The main distinction is that the source of the funding for their salaries comes from financial partners, via Stewardship, instead of tithes given to the church. They raise support at an agreed upon salary that is accountable to the Every Nation London Board. They are also given time off to specifically focus on raising and maintaining their partnership support each year.

Every church must size its staff complement according to its financial capacity, which places constraints on what they are able to achieve. MPD missionaries bless churches by enabling outreach, evangelism and church planting that would otherwise not be possible! We do however endeavour to contribute to each missionary’s funding as a signal of our confidence in them.
